Thanksgiving Tablescape

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We definitely enjoyed ours! For those of you who don’t know, Harvey and I got married in October, so this is our first major holiday as husband and wife.

We didn’t go anywhere though. We were going to visit his family since they are only a few hours away but they had to cancel, so we stayed home by ourselves. It actually felt nice. I still cooked but it was great to be alone. We have the rest of our lives to go visit or host people for holidays. Now…as I’ve been promising…here is our tablescape for Thanksgiving.  🙂

I love our little dining room table! It actually expands out and can seat up to 4-6 people (depending on how you squeeze them in). The love story behind this set was an unexpected yet simple one. I got this right after I met Harvey and had just moved into my new apartment. One morning, I decided to drive to work and had just pulled into the parking garage. The maintenance man who serviced our building and the condo next door was coming out of his office. He was always so sweet.

Out of nowhere, he asked me if I wanted a dining room set for $20. Someone from the condos had moved out and given it to him and he didn’t need/want it. It was so random, he caught me off guard and I didn’t say anything for like 45 seconds. 😂  He asked again and I said yes (of course!). Harvey and I had been eating on the couch, on the floor in front of the TV, and at the counter for weeks so it really was a no brainer.  The maintenance man helped me load it into my truck, I gave him $20, and the rest is history. As it turns out, this table is from Ikea called the BJURSTA and costs $120.00 . The chairs are the BORJE for $45 each!  So yep, that was a very good deal!  This table is now in its second apartment and I’m sure it’ll be with us until we buy a house.

How was your Thanksgiving holiday?
