Pamper Yourself Sundays

I was reading blogs on Bloglovin’ the other day and I stumbled across Erin from Chasing Rubies Chasing Pearls‘ post about pampering herself on Sunday nights. It struck me that it was such a simple fix to completely unwind and detox for the following week that I decided to try it. Umm..this was AMAZING!! I kick myself for not thinking of this sooner. Here’s how I pampered myself on Sunday night.

I started the night by turning on my Neo-Soul station on Pandora. There’s nothing better to get you relaxed than some slow jams. First, I saturated my hair with the Etae’ Carmel treatment. This would have to stay on as a prepping treatment for several minutes.  I then stood in the tub and prepped my body with a dry scrub (I’ll do a separate post on that shortly). The bristles are semi-hard and might feel like its scratching your skin. By the 2nd or 3rd time you do it though, you’ll get used to it. I did this while standing in the shower with no water. This is key – it’s called dry brushing for a reason!

Then, I took a lukewarm shower as normal with my Dove Body Soap. I then angled the water away from me and used the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hand and Body Scrub all over my body. Paying most attention to my feet, heels, and elbows. I left the scrub to “soak” and I washed my face with the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Shea Butter Soap and exfoliated with my Oil of Olay ProX (Christmas gift from my sister). I rinsed everything off, including my hair, and got out. I think that was one of the most invigorating showers I’ve ever taken! lol

After getting out, I patted dry leaving some water/moisture on my skin for the oils.  I massaged my problem areas (stretch marks and hyperpigmentation) with Bio-Oil. I let that absorb for a few minutes and then covered my whole body with a thin layer of Coconut Oil. I then put on my soft, warm winter socks to walk around in.

Now, it was time for me to tackle my hair. {I actually took a mini break, ate a sandwich because I was hungry, and watched the latest episode of Empire with Harvey lol my hair air dried quite a bit } If you don’t know, my hair is natural. It has all its glorious coils and kinks in a massive ‘fro. Unfortunately, I haven’t been taking care of it like I’m supposed to during the winter. What can I say? I’ve been lazy. My hair was in dire need of a good deep conditioning and steam treatment. I set up my Huetiful Hair steamer  on the dining room table so I could finish watching tv at the same time. =) While the steam was going, I parted my hair in sections, detangled and massaged the Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque through. Then, I sealed with Argan Oil and twisted the sections. I was done twisting by the time the steamer turned off…which is roughly 30 minutes.

Last but not least, I painted my nails in Sinful Colors’ Hazard which is kind of a pinkish-orange. Because… Spring

Here’s the whole line up:

Honey, let me tell you…I felt like a goddess after everything was done! I mean my skin was smooth, my hair was soft, and I just felt like A) I could take on the world! and B) I was ready for Monday morning!

Whew! I don’t know if I’ll do this every Sunday, but it’ll be a part of my routine somehow. Thanks, Chasing Rubies!! =)

*All of these items were gifted (Olay ProX) or bought myself. I’m a recovering product junkie =)
